Oscar’s Night Beauty

Beauty

February 12, 2020

Award season is full of beauty risks, triumphs, and the start of new trends. We love to watch the red carpet to see what unique hair and makeup looks the attendees are strutting into the ceremony with. With the Oscars having just aired this past Sunday, we are still swooning over a couple of these star-studded looks that will be sure to set new trends in 2020!

America Ferrera

Headbands and hairclips are making a huge comeback and we are loving it! America Ferrera rocked this stunning gold headband across her forehead and sleek hair to complement her bold red gown. Replicate this look by running a flat iron through your hair and then taming any strays with a flexible hold hairspray. Find your perfect headband and voila! Any remaining flyaways can be smoothed down by grabbing clear mascara and taming any hairs with the wand.

America’s Instagram caption for this look read: “#Oscars for the final farewell to 12 years of How to Train Your Dragon & my Berkian Warrior Queen Astrid. Tonight, I bring my own warrior ancestors with me, the indigenous Lenca tribe of Honduras.”

Zazie Beetz

We just love how Zazie Beetz amplified her natural curls in her Oscar’s look. In emerald jewels and black sequins, it was the perfect choice to keep a neutral makeup look and let her hair do the talking. Let your natural hair loose use a smoothing cream like DevaCurl Supercream Coconut Styler to achieve those perfect ringlets. Gather hair upward into a fauxhawk like Zazie by sticking bobby pins selectively up around the grown of your head. Let any remaining curls fall naturally in the front and at your neck.

Saoirse Ronan

Leave it to Saoirse Ronan to grace the red carpet with this ethereal lavender eyeshadow and crisp black winged liner. The buzz was all over Saoirse as she introduced her new baby bangs while walking into the award’s ceremony. We love how she maintained a fresh but whimsical look by drawing the same lavender hue from her earrings to her makeup look. Sweep a light purple shade to the brow bone to recreate this look. Finish with black winged liquid liner and a coat of mascara.

When in doubt.. add pearls! You may recall in our Grammy’s blog the use of faux pearls from Nikita Dragun’s makeup look. At the Oscar’s, pearls were used to accentuate a hair style! We are definitely seeing a trend here! Lucy Boynton rocked the red carpet with an all over glam look. To try out this avant-garde inspired style, use a light adhesive such as eyeshadow glue to place faux half-pearls along the part of your hairstyle. Finish with a bright red lip and lots of mascara on your top and bottom lashes! To go that extra step: throw on some falsies for a super glam lash look!

What looks from Sunday’s Oscar night red carpet were you swooning over!? We want to know! Tell us in the comments below. For more award night beauty inspiration, don’t miss our blog about the recent Grammy Awards: Grammy Glam!
