The Delamar Hotel is one of our favorite spots for a wedding in West Hartford! One of our brides, Bree, was able to put together a Delamar Hotel Wedding in just 6 weeks! (WOW!) We asked Bree about planning a covid wedding, and she gave us the scoop. Read on below, and browse photos from her beautiful Delamar Hotel wedding! We hope this is encouraging to all of our covid brides. And that it lets you know that just because your wedding day isn’t exactly what you always pictured, it can still be AMAZING because you’re marrying your person. (Marriage is the fun part anyway – the wedding is just a preview of all that’s to come!)

“I’m a planner, so for our original wedding in Montreal, I had already arranged all the details and vendors a year ahead. When Covid hit, it threw us a curve ball, but we were optimistic that with a September date we might still be able to have the day we planned. As the months went on and the pandemic wasn’t getting any better, we realized we’d have to adjust our plans, as there was no way to cross the border to even be with half our family. It was a horribly difficult decision, but we decided to proceed with our marriage, even if it meant we’d have a smaller in-person ceremony, with the majority of our guests attending virtually.

By the time we made this decision, it was coming down to the wire, which for my planning personality was not good news.

In a minor panic, I started browsing and calling vendors ASAP to start throwing together the last minute plans. While it was tight scheduling, KiSSandMaKeUp was able to make it work for us. Miraculously, I had booked our photographer, florist, hair and makeup, venue, and edited our guest list only 6 weeks before our wedding date! Not only were we able to book vendors for our date, but when everything finally came together, we were more than thrilled with our choices. Our flowers were out of this world, the bride, bridesmaids, and mother of the bride all looked and felt their best, and our photographer Nick captured it all to perfection.

Like any wedding there were small set backs, but at the end of the day it was perfect. And because a global pandemic got between us and our “perfect day”, it almost took away the stress of making it “perfect” (which it never is) because it was never going to be able to be the event we originally planned. Despite the setbacks and last minute changes, our wedding day was a beautiful time spent with friends and family both near and far, celebrating our wonderful life together.”
