WWe celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd but this month we are making an effort every day. In our industry we go through a lot of products. We make sure to follow through with proper recycling of all the plastics and bottles. What most people do not know is every day beauty products can be used to save the lives of animals. Your average mascara wand can be used to remove harmful environmental byproducts from fur and feathers.
“RECYCLE & SAVE WILD LIVES! Old mascara wands are used to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of wild animals. They work great because the bristles are close together. Send your wands or gather old mascara wands and donations to help the wild ones by hosting a Wands for Wildlife® Wandraiser!”
Appalachian Wildlife Refuge is a nonprofit that coordinates the needs of wildlife rehabilitation in Western North Carolina providing care for injured and orphaned wildlife, support for the wildlife rehabilitation network and conservation education to the community.
“Before mailing, wash wands in warm soapy water to remove residual mascara. Mail this form, old wands & donations to: P.O. Box 1211, Skyland, NC 28776.Check postage and packaging requirements at your local post office. Many packages are arriving with postage due.”
We believe it is important to contribute to the beauty of the earth. There are many ways we can come together to make an impact on preserving nature and health of animals. Pay it forward!
For the month of April, bring your old mascara wands to the KiSSandMaKeUp Studio at the Hilliard Mills and receive 10% off your service that day!
Of course, there are other ways you can contribute!
