We always say the Oscars are at the start of the new year so we can be inspired for what trends are coming our way! This year’s red carpet at the Oscars did not disappoint. We were glued to the TV, taking notes on all the stunning hair and makeup that graced the screen. We put together some of our favorite Oscars looks and a couple tips on how to replicate inspiration from the stars!
Lady Gaga’s look was all about balance. Her icy-toned hair was pulled up into a bouffant. The style was created by Frederic Aspiras to evoke a classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s inspired look to compliment the bold necklace from Tiffany & Co. Aspiras was quoted as to how he created the look, “He started off by raking a couple pumps of the Joico Blonde Life Brilliant Glow Brightening Oil though Lady Gaga’s damp hair help it look super glossy. Then, Aspiras blow dried her hair away from her face using GHD’s Air Hair Dryer and Natural Bristle Radial Brush Size 2.” via Allure Magazine.
Recognized from recent fame from hit series Westworld, Tessa Thompson paid homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld by wearing Chanel from his last couture collection. The look was played up in her hair and makeup. Her lids sparkled with gold that mimicked the embroidery in the custom beaded gown. Her natural waves were defined with a slicked-back look that allowed her features to shine. To recreate these 24 Karat lids, we recommend using Stila’s Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow.
A classic red lip was the perfect pop of color to balance Charlize Theron’s powder blue gown and brunette bob. Theron’s new hair style was already surprise enough, but we loved the bright red to create that classic, sophisticated look. Try Fenty’s Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored to recreate her look. Make sure when rocking a bold lip color to always keep the rest of your makeup clean and natural.
Lilac and winged liner! Gemma Chan from Crazy Rich Asians fame had us swooning over her look. A textured, low bun allowed for her (VIBRANT) pink gown to shine on the red carpet. To pull some of the hue into her makeup look, Gemma sported a crisp winged liner and light, shimmery shadow to highlight her eyes. The gown did the rest of the talking!
We had to mention Kendall Jenner’s gorgeous natural makeup look. With a risque gown, the only appropriate makeup look would be the subtle, soft tones that complimented her skin color and highlighted her bone structure. To copy Kendall’s volume, our stylist recommend Kenra’s line of volume enhancing products for hair. Finish the look with Kenra Volume Spray that will hold your hairstyle through humidity, wind, and the red carpet!
We could not get enough of Stephanie Shepherd’s pop of bright pink on the inner corners of her eyes for her red carpet look. The electric shade drew attention from her silky ivory gown right to her face. The playful shade was absolutely perfect with her voluminous lashes and neutral lip. We immediately thought of the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette that features this hot pink color along with a couple others we cannot wait to experiment with when recreating this look!
