Big, natural looking eyebrows are in right now. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with Lily Collins brows naturally. Many of us get our eyebrows tinted and shaped monthly. In addition, we own all of the eyebrow pencils, gels, and powders that Sephora carries. We spend mornings in our magnifying mirror coloring in our barely there brows trying to create a look that will wash off in our next shower (or if you happen to get sweaty). If you are one of the un-eyebrow-blessed and are dreaming of thicker, maintenance free eyebrows that boast brow envy, let us suggest microblading.
Eyebrow Microblading is the latest and greatest in eyebrow trends. While it seems a bit scary (being considered a form of tattooing) it is a long term option that will allow you to ditch that morning eyebrow routine. I mean, who doesn’t want to roll out of bed with perfect eyebrows?
While this process has been around for years, it is just gaining mainstream popularity. In this blog, we will answer some of your burning eyebrow questions!
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent solution to give you the brows you’ve always wanted. While it is a form of tattooing, it is not something to be afraid of. Microblade artists use a handheld tool instead of a machine to implant pigment superficially underneath the upper region of your skin. Each stroke is applied individually, allowing the artist to control the shape, color, and density of the finished eyebrow. While it is less abrasive than tattooing, the healing process is very similar. The eyebrows will appear dark and there will be some scabbing at first. It is also suggested you don’t let your new brows get wet within the first week. But after that first week, you are home free with brows that will turn heads! Added bonus? A one-month touch up is included in your session to make sure that everything healed correctly and is looking fabulous.
Who should get their brows Microbladed?
Come one, come all. Microblading is a perfect solution for everyone. Whether you have tiny/sparse brows, super blonde/barely there brows, no brows due to alopecia, or just need a little help filling your arches in, you’re covered. Microblading can take whatever you have and turn them into natural looking full brows.
Does it hurt?
Yes and no. While everyone handles pain differently, most only feel slight pinching and discomfort. Some have even compared the feeling to that of threading. It doesn’t feel like getting a tattoo though!
How long does it take and how long does it last?
Microblading can take anywhere from 2-3 hours to complete. It is a detailed process that requires both time and patience. It entails sketching, color matching, numbing cream, blading and then the healing process. First, your artist will sketch the shape with a precise measuring tool to be sure the brows are even. This way the client has an idea of the shape the brow will take. Once you approve of the stencil, then the microblading process begins.
But…I’ve seen tattooed eyebrows…and no thanks!
Stop right there! These aren’t your great Aunt Connie’s eyebrows that resemble a permanent marker line that doesn’t budge when she smiles. These are meticulously placed tiny “tattoos” that look exactly like hairs. Even better? Artists are trained to work with the brow bone and the structure of the face and make sure the eyebrows move when they are supposed to.
